Managing enquiries for support through family court

Corinne is managing enquiries for support through family court. She is an essential part of our engine room, making sure that people get to the right place at the right time. As a result, she is the key to our success as our family work goes from strength to strength.

Data reporter

Corinne is also our data reporter, gathering evidence for The Ministry of Justice. Ultimately, we need this data to guarantee that the courts meet the needs of people attending court in the future.

Assistant Coordinator – Improving Outcomes through Legal Support

We’re excited to have Corinne as an Assistant Coordinator for the next year. Having started as a Police Constable, she joined CID in Cornwall. Eventually, she retired from a successful career in the police in 2022. You can read her bio here. Thankfully, Corinne decided it was about time she took on a new challenge. She really understands the need for support through court. As a result, she has huge motivation to help people who come to our door.

Deep understanding of the court system

Corinne’s experience in both uniform and CID means that she is confident working in the Justice System. Consequently, she combines a deep understanding of the court system with knowledge of how to transform business practices. On top of this, she can introduce new data solutions. She applies all this to her role reporting to the Ministry of Justice on our impact in the Family Courts in Devon and Cornwall.

First impressions

Corinne shares her first impressions:

‘I’ve been very inspired by the people I’ve met here. I’m understanding more the reasons behind the crime, especially when it comes to childhood trauma. In the police, I was looking at the crime, but CASS+ has a compassionate approach. I may well have been a better police officer if I had understood more about the reasons for people’s behaviour.

This legal environment is so stressful for everyone. I look forward to supporting others through the complex court system here at CASS+.

People need support through court

It’s vital that we demonstrate the need for support through court. If CASS+ wasn’t here, children could be at risk of losing contact with their parents, people could be forced to stay in abusive relationships because they don’t know where to get help. Court is very intimidating and overwhelming. Most importantly, people just need someone by their side.’
